Frozen Stew recipe (serves 3/4)

Ingredients

2 or 3 ox cheeks (our kids love this but you can replace this with any other beef that can be slow cooked.)

2 tbsp frozen garlic

1 tbsp frozen ginger

1 packet frozen root vegetables

1 packet frozen mushrooms

2 cups frozen ready chopped onions

1 tin chopped tomatoes

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 beef stock cube

2 cups red wine

2 cups frozen green beans (optional)

A sprig of thyme (or 2 teaspoons of dried)

2 bay leaves fresh or dried

Finally add any odd bits of veg you want to use up celery, carrots, courgettes etc.

Method

Place all the ingredients apart from the beans straight into a slow cooker and mix well. Cook on high for a minimum of 6 hours or until the ox cheek falls apart. (Ours is left overnight so sometimes gets a bit longer than 6 hours but it still tastes great!). Stir in the beans 15 mins before you want to serve so they can just heat through.

P.S I never sear the meat...it's going to be cooked for over 6 hours, so would you really be able to tell? But I am sure it would add to the flavour if you have the time to do it!
