Health and Performance Newsletter - The Health Paradox Part 1

Darren Putt / 13 October 2025

You are a high-performing leader or a successful entrepreneur: day-in day-out you're solving complex problems, making strategic decisions, moving things forward and making things happen.

You've likely shown the discipline and focus to navigate whatever challenges business and life have thrown at you.

You're "successful".

Despite this level of success the truth is that for many people like you, the same cannot always be said when it comes to their personal health and performance.  Often it's taken a back seat or become a lingering, underlying frustration - a source of guilt and shame even.

“If I can win in my business or career, why can't I do the same with my health and fitness?”

Over the last few years the health and wellness industry has become a relentless stream of seemingly-conflicting advice.  Every week brings a new miracle diet, a transformative workout, or a cutting-edge bio-hack: Keto, Zone 2 Cardio, intermittent fasting, HIIT, cold plunges, supplements, weight loss injections...

So many options. So many “breakthroughs”. Something for everyone, surely?

MORE OPTIONS = BETTER RESULTS?

However, the sheer volume of information and choices has created an unfortunate paradox: more options has led to more confusion; not better results.

Two things happen:

  1. People have even more fads to hop on…and then off again!

  2. People are so confused they don't know where to start

Neither are a recipe for long-term success.  Despite what you may see on social media the number of people making real, long-term change happen is tiny.

The truth is, you don't need more information - we're drowning in it.

You don't need another app.

You don't need another plan that supposedly worked for [insert a name of your choice]

What you do need is effectively an operating manual for your life: You need a simple, strategic way to take all the different elements of our health, fitness and performance and knit them together.

It's not about “a programme” - i.e. something you do for a set number of weeks then forget about.

It's about designing a way of living - a sustainable lifestyle - that makes you feel good and gives you the health, fitness, energy and ability to perform in every area of life, every day.

Thanks for reading and look out for part 2 next week,

Darren
