Hi all,
Coconut Oil has
received a lot of attention over the last couple of years - it's one of those good
fats that just a few years ago were bad fats.
As you know, I'm not
into fads, but coconut oil is here to stay.
In our household we
have a number of uses for it:
- Stir
frying - has a very high smoke point and doesn't degrade the way olive oil
does. Works best with Asian dishes for obvious reasons.
- Pre-exercise
energy boost. It contains something called MCTs (medium chain
triglycerides) which the body can convert to energy very easily.
- Sweet
craving killer - if I'm craving something sweet I'll sometimes have a
teaspoon of this stuff with some very dark chocolate which usually does
the trick.
- Skin
moisturiser! Many cosmetics use coconut oil as a base or major
ingredient. Just don't go out in this hot sun with it on!
I would just like to
add we use separate pots!
You can get it in
most supermarkets now, usually next to the olive oil.
Enjoy!
